2017 SMA Conference

Recharge Your Talent Acquisition Team and Prepare for the Future of HR

What if you could walk away from a day-long conference and be more energized about your career, have a clearer direction for you and your recruiting team, and add some simple yet highly effective tools to your toolbox? Would you be interested?

This year, The Staffing Management Association [SMA] presented programs that looked at overall recruitment processes in a new light. We explored how other professions take a different approach to interviewing, learned about best practices within other companies, and uncovered the newest staffing management technologies and platforms that are changing the entire recruitment process.

SMA will continue this momentum at their 2017 Annual Spring Conference. We are excited to announce that national speakers Alex Brown, William Maurer, and Keynote Tim Sackett will be sharing the latest game-changing trends that are shaking up how we look at recruitment within our organizations.         

Anticipate a day filled with less Power Point lectures and more interactive conversation around the topics we’re all wrestling with. This will be different, and different is good.

 

SESSIONS:

Beyond the ATS – The Technology Driven Candidate Experience –Alex Brown

When candidates describe switching jobs as impactful as buying a home, marriage, or the birth of a child, it’s incumbent that we recognize the importance of making their Candidate Experience as rewarding and memorable as possible. You have the power to harness this life-altering transaction to generate advocates for your organization…but where to start?  In this session, Alex will use concrete examples to demystify Candidate Experience and put branding techniques to use that will create a “red carpet” Candidate Experience. You’ll also learn to organize your Candidate Experience approach, tackle necessary goal-setting and benchmarking, and implement strategies and tactics to improve your own processes, no matter the size, maturity, or repute of your brand.

The Evolution of the Hunt for TalentWilliam Maurer

It’s no secret that current market conditions affect every part of our business, including talent acquisition.  Recently GM went through a transformation and had to answer questions such as

·  What are some of the unique challenges facing us from a hiring perspective?

·  What type of individuals do we need to drive talent acquisition forward?

·  How do we identify the people that we need?

·  What are some ways that we can evaluate success outside of normal metrics?

Please join Will as he discusses GM’s current journey, their visions for the future, and the lessons that they’ve learned along the way.

 

The Headhunter Inside Me! – Tim Sackett

We live in a world of two types of recruiting: corporate and agency. What if we combined those two types of recruiting!? Tim Sackett, SCP has led talent acquisition departments at three different major companies and has taken them all from traditional corporate recruiting departments to in-house corporate agency shops! During this session, Tim will show you how you can take your own traditional recruitment department and build an in-house agency model. Step by step, metric by metric, Tech by Tech, you'll learn everything you need in beginning the process to transition to becoming the full functioning in-house agencies that your executives do not believe you can become! 

This session is not for everyone. Many TA Leaders are completely happy and satisfied just posting and praying. Tim never was. He had a headhunter inside him clawing to get out, and change the way recruiting is done forever! Don’t worry Agency pros, he has some tips and tricks for you as well!

Following lunch, the conference will conclude with a powerful breakout session that you won’t want to miss! There will be some surprise guests from the Talent Management space; some you know and some you don’t know facilitating an interactive concluding session.

 

Speaker Bios:

Tim Sackett, SHRM-SCP, SPHR is the President of HRU Technical Resources a leading IT and Engineering Staffing firm headquartered in Lansing, MI. Tim has 20 years of combined Executive HR and Talent Acquisition experiences, working for Fortune 500 companies in healthcare, retail, dining and technology. Tim is a highly sought after international speaker on leadership, talent acquisition and HR execution. In 2017, he was named to the Board of Directors of the Assocation of Talent Acquistion Professionals (ATAP).

Alex Brown – Alex has been with Fiserv since February 2016 and has over six years of experience in talent acquisition, recruitment marketing, and employer branding.  Alex is passionate about creating change for the better, contributing to the Fiserv Human Resources team as the Recruitment Manager for Social Media & Candidate Experience.  Prior to joining Fiserv, Alex partnered with a diverse array of clients in many industries as the Digital Strategy leader for the TMP Worldwide Dallas office.  In his first role in his career, Alex spent over four years developing innovative talent attraction plans and implementing proven marketing and advertising processes as the Senior Social Media and Employer Branding Specialist for Waste Management, Inc. in Houston, TX.   A native Texan, Alex is a technology trail-blazer, marketing and data nerd, eco-enthusiast, and aspiring amateur chef.

Will Maurer – Will Maurer is currently living his dream as the global sourcing manager for General Motors. With that said, his opinions are solely his own and do not reflect the opinion of his employer.
