Membership Categories

Regular Membership: Regular membership shall be limited to those individuals actively engaged in bona fide human resources administration, who devote at least 50% of their time to human resources, personnel or industrial relations functions and reside within the Northern Ohio area.

Regular membership shall also comprise those individuals who devote at least 50% of their time advising, assisting or representing enterprises on human resources matters and shall include:

  • faculty members at accredited colleges or universities who hold the rank of assistant, associate or professor in personnel, human resources or industrial relations;
  • HR Consultants
  • HR attorneys
  • HR agents who perform human resource functions, either of a temporary of permanent nature, for a fee Individuals whose involvement in the field of human resource management in the estimation of the Board of Directors manifests a strong compatibility with Cleveland SHRM REGULAR MEMBERSHIP

Past President: Life membership will be granted for Past Presidents of Cleveland SHRM in recognition and appreciation for their service to the organization. Such membership shall grandfather Past President from 1980 to current. This membership shall be entitled to full membership privileges without the payment of membership dues. Past presidents will be responsible for payment for all meetings and special events.

Honorary Life Membership: Any member of the Chapter may be elected to Honorary Life Membership in the Chapter. In order to qualify for this category, an individual must be at least age 55 and have been a member of Cleveland SHRM, or its previous entities, for at least ten (10) consecutive years. This membership may not hold an elective office nor vote. They will not be required to pay membership or dues for our regular monthly Chapter meeting only.

Post-Graduate Membership: Post-Graduate membership is available to individuals who have completed a degree in human resources-related program in the same calendar year in which they apply for membership but have not met the requirements for Regular Membership. Post-Graduate Membership shall not extend beyond one year. Post-Graduate members may not hold an elected office or vote. Annual dues for a Post-Graduate Membership shall be one-half (1/2) the amount of dues for a Regular Member. Documentation of graduation MUST accompany application.

Associate Membership in Transition: is available to individuals whose last position would have made them eligible for Regular Membership, but finds themselves between Human Resources positions (i.e. relocations, job abolishment, terminations, etc). Associate memberships shall not extend beyond two years. Associate Members may not hold elective office or vote. New memberships in this category shall be the same amount of dues as Regular memberships yet renewal dues in the category shall be one-half (1/2) of Regular Memberships.

Human Resources Partner: HR Partner is for individuals who do not qualify for Regular Membership yet individuals in Human Resources are their primary client group or network and these individuals would benefit from the opportunity of networking with Cleveland SHRM. Cleveland SHRM extends to these individuals the special relationship. HR Partners cannot hold an elective office or vote.

Student Membership: Student membership is for students who are enrolled in at least (12) credit hours per term in a program supporting a degree in Human Resource Management. Student members can vote in chapter elections.
