A career in HR is a journey...a combination of "lessons learned" and "lessons being learned." Larry Miller will describe how HR teams inside some of Northeast Ohio's most-recognized employers, large and small, have positioned themselves to add increasing value as the business world evolves. The presentation will focus on some of the key attributes of HR functions, and HR professionals, that will be necessary in the years ahead. The presentation also will summarize some key findings from TeamNEO's recently released report about the supply and demand imbalance in Northeast Ohio's workforce, a situation that will require the attention and creativity of HR professionals, and others, to solve.
Learn how some of the regions best employers have linked their employment brand to their business brand in order to increase engagement and improve business outcomes, globally and locally.

About Our Presenters:
Larry Miller has 30 years of human resources experience including many years of experience as Vice President of Human Resources for global Northeast Ohio companies such as Lubrizol Corporation, Tremco (the largest subsidiary of RPM International), and Diebold-Nixdorf. He spent over half his career at two of the region’s most-recognized employers, Lubrizol and Vitamix, which have been recognized nationally as well. Larry worked most recently as a Senior Vice President and Practice Leader at Ratliff & Taylor, Ohio’s largest full-service talent management firm. Larry has extensive experience in HR strategy and branding, organizational transformation, talent management, leadership development, employee engagement, global HR processes, global business growth, mergers and acquisitions, diversity, and wellness. He helped develop and implement strategic talent initiatives for the entire northeast Ohio region as the founding President at Global Cleveland and as a member of the Regional Economic Competitiveness Strategy Workforce Task Force. He has worked in over 40 countries worldwide, lived eight year in Italy and France, has worked throughout the Northeast Ohio region (and elsewhere nationally) in various industries, and has experience as a business leader and HR professional in for-profit, not-for-profit, and government sectors.
Jacob Duritsky coordinates research for the Cleveland Plus region’s business attraction efforts to better serve the information requirements of Team NEO’s various partners and communities engaged in targeted and sustainable region-wide economic growth. His responsibilities include examining, obtaining, developing, providing and analyzing data for medium to large company attraction efforts, spatial display and analysis of data with ESRI ArcView GIS, industry- and occupation-based research, target industries and value chain identification, and marketing support.
Jacob has been with Team NEO since 2008 and previously served as an integral part of the organization’s business attraction efforts. Prior to joining Team NEO, Jacob was a graduate and research assistant for The Center for Public Management/Great Lakes Environmental Finance Center where he conducted a regional economic impact study for the Cuyahoga County Department of Development, co-developed metrics for use by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), and developed social indicators for pending U.S. EPA litigation.
Jacob holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, Cleveland State University, where he also holds a Master of Science in Urban Studies. Jacob is currently pursuing his Doctoral of Economic Development from Cleveland State. He is a member or the Urban Studies Association, American Economics Association and American Planning Association.
