Session Title: Strategic Role of HR in the Future

Date: Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Presenter: Amy Shannon

Session Overview:

As generations collide, workforces become more diverse and people are in work for longer. What does this mean for the future of your organization? Have you thought about who the business leaders of 2030 will be? What are the risks of being left behind?

What will human resources look like a decade from now?

According to a recent HR Professional Associations study, ‘CEOs believe that senior HR executives have done a good job working as a partner during the last few years, but going forward they expect them to couple their HR skills with a much deeper understanding of the business.  This translates into being more of a strategic partner.

In past few years, the Human Resources Competency Study (HRCS) conducted by Dave Ulrich and SHRM has identified Strategic Positioner to be a critical competency to the HR profession.

What are the current predictions for the future and how can an HR professional prepare?

In this program, we will look at the trends in the future of our workplace and HR’s strategic role in them.  We will also identify the how well the HR professional is currently perceived as a strategic partner who needs to understand evolving business contexts, stakeholder expectations, and business requirements and translate them into talent, culture, and leadership actions.  The program objectives include:

·   Identify the forces shaping the workplace and key predictions of the future of HR

·   Understand the top future HR challenges and how to be prepared for them

·   Recognize the competencies necessary for the HR professional to be successful

·   Learn the new workplace leadership roles that are embedded in an HR profession of the future.  They include:

o        Organizational Engineer
Virtual Culture Architect
Global Talent Scout, Convener, and Coach
Data, Talent & Technology Integrator
        Social Policy & Community Activist
